Is it time for Caroline Flack and Jessica Alba to upgrade their ‘dos? Hair veiling and colour-flipping to replace the dip-dye look as the hottest hair trends this season

Hair heroines Caroline Flack and Drew Barrymore have been experimenting with the super-fashionable 'ombre' colouring technique for a few seasons already.
But 2012 was the year that dip-dyed tresses became a huge trend in hair for celebrity beauty addicts with Jessica Alba, Abbey Clancy and Katy Perry all jumping on the painted-on bandwagon.
Now next season's must-have styles have been revealed and the craze for splashes of colour goes one step further as hair-veiling and colour-flipping become the must-have hair dos.

Jessica Speechly, head of colour at the Errol Douglas Knightsbridge salon, has identified the hottest hair trends for Mail Online, and it's bad news for wallflowers ... for 2013 the bolder the colour the better.
Jessica, who heads up team of stylists that have worked with Emilia Fox, Kelly Rowland, Zoe Kravitz, Uma Thurman, Naomi Campbell and Kelly Brook says: 'Whatever the trend, and I do love to mix it up, I always match wardrobe and lifestyle first, there's no trend that shoud come before individual style and overall hair health – good condition is key to rocking a stunning colour choice.
'Here are my predictions for each colour type, with a few notes on avant garde inspiration from the catwalk and some cool new techniques to play with ... '

ICE ICED BLONDIE:

'An extremely cool tone of blonde for equally cool chicks. Literally imagine the surface of an untouched ice rink.
'This isn’t pastel, it’s a frost finish – very Ice Princess.  It would look great on natural blondes, and suits fair skin tones.
'It looks particuarly good on short cuts or ladies with long bold one length hair.'

SCORCHING BURNT BROWN:

'We’ll see browns that are inspired by rust tones on the colour spectrum, giving a really flattering copper undertone that warms the face.
'The almost “burnt brown” tone will work really well with the texture we’ve seen on the runway and will be seeing more of in 2013.
'It’s a warm tone that suits most, and looks particularly good on fair/light skin tones. With super glossy styling, it catches the light in old school waves beautifully.
'This would work brilliantly on I’d love to see Jessica Biel, Kristen Stewart or Emma Watson.'

REAL REDHEADS...NO “COPPER-ING” OUT:

'2013 goes high gloss for the redhead, less copper more true dramatic red – that red only achievable through expert colour.
'Super shiny, dramatic and head turning.  This is a stunning colour make over for natural red heads or for those looking for a complete head turner of a change for new year.
'This isn’t a highlights look, it’s unconfused,  monochromatic and solid.  What’s really great is that with the right hair care this really let’s healthy hair shine and take centre stage.
'Red Carpet, Redhead – perfect.  This would be amazing on Adele, Emma Stone or Scarlett Johansson.'

HIDDEN COLOUR WITH HAIR VEIL TECHNIQUE:

'I’m excited about this technique trending in 2013. “Veiling” creates hidden panels of colour so that when the hair is flipped from side to the other it exposes contrasting colour.
'Blondes hiding panels on one side will create the illusion of asymmetric hair colour and brunettes can  do the same with a panel of red or auburn.
'When the hair is flipped, it will give an appearance of a whole other tone. Instant edge that’s also hidden easily, so it’s incredibly wearable.  Day to Night solved.
'Mila Kunis, Leighton Meester, or Dakota Fanning would rock this style.'

'Forget dipped ends and splashes of festival crazy colour through the ends, this will be flipped on its head.  Crazy colour at the crown and roots, natural through the ends.  This means blondes can play around with dusky rose tones on the roots, brunettes with denim blues – both rocking a very distinct line of colour.
'Denim blue I predict will be the most popular interpretation of this, particularly playing with fluorescent undertones similar to the Jean Paul Gaultier runway at Paris Fashion Week.  I’d love to see this on Katy Perry or Nikki Minaj.'
